The Wyandotte was developed around 1870 in the U.S. Blue Laced Red Wyandotte’s are beautiful chickens with an even more strikingly beautiful feather coloration. Although BLRW are not currently recognized by the APA many breeders are working hard to get this color recognized.
We have taken an slow approach with our Wyandotte’s here at Bresse Farms. All of our breeders are direct decedents of the Paul Tendell & Foley lines. All of our brood stock are from show quality BLRW parents. We are very selective from there with the crosses and the breeders that are kept for our personal brood stock to ensure that our customers are getting show quality chicks every time. However, BLRW do not always breed true. Like many colored chicken breeds some birds can still grow off to have black or silver lacing instead of the blue lacing.
Wyandotte’s lay a large sized well rounded brown egg. These birds are truly amazing with excellent egg production and a full grown weight of 6.5 – 8.5 pounds what more could you want in a chicken?
