Very docile hearty birds of large sized brown eggs. Roosters will typically weigh in at 8.5 pounds hens at 7.5 pounds making this breed a very nice sized bird. Rhode Island Reds are known for being excellent dual purpose birds. Egg production on this breed is typically around 220 eggs per year!
