The Ameraucana is the American breed of the Araucana which originated in Chile. The Ameraucana was bred to keep the blue egg gene; but at the same time eliminating alot of the genetic problems with the parent stock Araucana. Ameraucana males will reach roughly 6.5 Pounds females 5.5 Pounds. For the back yard hobbyist looking to add some color to the egg basket Ameraucana's are an excellent option!
